Additional Offerings

Journal Club

A monthly journal club is part of the Orthopaedic Residency conference schedule. An additional hand journal club will be conducted on Friday mornings at 7:00 a.m. bimonthly, or as a separate conference with the Fellow taking the primary role in analysis of papers from the American and British Journal of Hand Surgery, as well as the Journal of Orthopaedic Research and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, as appropriate.

Anatomy Dissection

Anatomy dissections of the hand and upper extremity are part of the basic residency conference program. Additionally directed anatomy dissections will be performed throughout the year by the Fellow and Attending staff. Each junior Resident will perform a dissection with the hand Fellow on his/her two-month rotation on the hand service.

Future Expansion

Future areas of expansion of the hand service include the establishment of a regular clinic at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, as well as integrating our services more closely with the plastic surgery services at UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital. Biweekly office hours at Mt. Zion Hospital are being scheduled.
