The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Each year, UCSF Orthopaedic Surgery matches six first-year residents (PGY-1s) to the 5-year program, and one to a six-year program with one year of dedicated research. The department does not accept foreign medical graduates. All applications are handled through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

• 3 letters of recommendation (one must be from a non-surgical sub-specialty)
• (USMLE) Step I score
Please do not email or mail additional documents directly to the program. All documents must be uploaded in (ERAS).
The deadline for submitting application materials in (ERAS) is October 3, 2016
The Selection Committee will review all the candidate’s applications once the required materials have been submitted. The applicant will be notified by email if he/she has been granted an interview. The selection of residents will be made on the basis of aptitude, academic accomplishments, communications skills, and personal qualities. The minimum USMLE score requirement is 230.
Interviews will be held on Dec 2nd-3rd 2016.
