Orthopaedics Institute (OI)

Located in the heart of Mission Bay, UCSF’s new outpatient facility was designed and built specifically to enable the delivery of world-class orthopaedic care. All services are conveniently located in one place with an efficient, patient-friendly design for easy flow from checkin to discharge. The Institute’s 42,000 square feet has significantly increased treatment capacity by consolidating outpatient services previously provided at UCSF Medical Center’s Parnassus and Mount Zion campuses, so now high level care is accessible to more patients, more conveniently.
With 28 examination rooms, four operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and the latest 3T MRI uniquely configured for musculoskeletal imaging, the Orthopaedic Institute brings a level of expertise found only in the most advanced teaching and research institutes in the country. For ambulatory procedures, sports medicine and other specialists use the most advanced equipment including minimally invasive arthroscopy, musculoskeletal radiology and fluoroscopy to achieve optimum results for patients. The Institute features a wealth of patient conveniences including ample and level parking close to the facility.
