Rebecca Yu, MD

Rebecca Yu was born New York, NY, grew up in Trumbull, CT and graduated from Greens Farms Academy in Greens Farms, NY. She attended Cornell University for one year, and then subsequantly graduated from Stanford University in 1993 with degrees in Art History and Biology. She worked at Hopkins Marine Station diving the kelp forests of Monterey Bay and later spent time at Stanford's campus in Florence, Italy, taking in the spirit of the Renaissance masters.
Dr. Yu completed her Medical School at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL, graduating in 1997, exactly 30 years after her father. After finishing a General Surgery residency for 2 years at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, NY then completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt in 2003. She has volunteered through Orthopaedics Overseas in Thimphu, Bhutan, the first of hopefully many more such volunteering endeavors.
Dr. Yu completed her Fellowship training in Hand Surgery at The Philadelphia Hand Center/Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA in 2004 and joined us one day a week in the fall of 2004. She currently has a private practice in Berkeley and is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Orthoapedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
