“Drink Locally….Act Globally” Happy Hour

IGOT hosts a weekly Happy Hour at the Homestead, a local pub who supports IGOT by donating a portion of proceeds from renting their event space to IGOT. Come join IGOT for a pint and some peanuts to learn more about what we do and who we are!

Teach Travel Learn: Volunteering with Orthopaedics Overseas
Annually in June
Washington, DC
This workshop is in conjunction with AAOS designed to prepare participants for overseas volunteer assignments and provide them with specific skills for teaching orthopaedics in developing countries. Being an effective volunteer requires considerable preparation, both personally and professionally. Teaching in another culture not only requires an understanding of the clinical material, but also an ability to effectively communicate that material. This workshop offers participants the skills they need to pursue a successful volunteer assignment. Faculty include IGOT’s Richard Coughlin MD, MSc; David Speigel, MD; and Peter Trafton, MD. IGOT International Flap Course

Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI)

IGOT will host ~50 Orthopaedic Surgeons from developing countries to teach ~20 limb salvage, rotational flap procedures. This course is in collaboration with the SIGN Annual Meeting held in Richland, WA September 19-22, 2012. Attendees are a percentage of those attending the SIGN Annual Meeting and are choosen by SIGN. IGOT International Research Symposium

Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI)

IGOT will host ~25 Orthopaedic Surgeons from the attendees of the IGOT International Flap Course whom are leaders and educators at their host institutions. This one day intensive course reviews the fundamentals of clinical research development and includes small-break out sessions with our esteemed faculty to address regional research goals and begin planning on collaborative research projects.
IGOT Soft Tissue & Local Wound Management: Resident Symposium
Annually in September
Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI)

IGOT will host ~40 residents to review the basics of soft tissue and local wound management. The emphasis of this course is to provide basic skills through break out hands-on workshops as well as introduce residents to products and materials currently accessible for wound care. The underlying theme of the course is the importance of managing wounds, provide an understanding of products used in wound management. This course is supported by industry in conjunction with our concurrent International Flap Course and Research Symposium.
AAOS Course for Orthopaedic Educators
Annually in November
Bloomingdale, IL
This course is designed for orthopaedic educators, residency program directors, instructional course chairs, and other orthopaedic surgeons responsible for resident education. The accelerated five-day program keeps you on the cutting edge of today’s most important educational developments. Interactive sessions, lectures and problem-solving exercises give you the tools to facilitate resident learning, evaluate resident and program goals and problems, and address important considerations in academic faculty career development. You’ll learn a variety of approaches to teach orthopaedic residents and communicate educational concepts and proposals to students, peers, and leaders. To learn more click here.
