Examples:

  • Stance Control KAFO: A long leg brace that locks when weight bearing and allows free bending flexion in walking.
  • Locked KAFO: This is used when the patient cannot walk or be safe with knee motion when standing or walking. The locks can automatically engage or be manual.
  • Free motion KAFO: Used primarily for severe knee instability problems, pain, and/or fractures.
  • Blount’s Brace: Used with young children for treatment of Blount’s Disease (tibia varum).
