Resources Overview

State of the art diagnostic imaging equipment allows the radiologist and the hand surgeon to view images of your hand quickly and to begin treatment as soon as possible, including during your office visit.

Diagnostic tests include:

  • Angiography
  • Magnetic resonance imaging
  • X-rays
  • EMG

The UCSF Hand and Upper Extremity team works to restore range of motion, decrease pain and increase strength. Treatments are individualized based on the severity of your condition and how it affects your daily activities. The comprehensive program of services ranges from initial consultation to physical therapy.

Treatments include:

  • Injections
  • Custom splinting
  • Hand function assessment
  • Patient education
  • Advanced techniques of fractures care for complex fractures and soft tissue
  • Emergency and urgent care for a wide array of complex fractures, and soft tissue injuries to the hand and upper extremity
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Reconstructive surgery
