Welcome
The Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics at UCSF Children’s hospital, founded in 1934, is a Division of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and a Clinical Service at The BenioffChildren’s Hospital of UCSF. “
The Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Service provides full service, family-centered care to children with musculoskeletal conditions. Our pediatric orthopaedic specialists treat everything from simple fractures that need a cast to complex spine and hip deformities that require major operations. Based at the Parnassus campus of the University of California San Francisco and Children’s Hospital Oakland with satellite offices throughout the Bay Area, we provide the comprehensive care and latest treatments one would expect from a leading academic institution with the personal, individualized care that we would want for our own children.
For children with multiple and complex problems, we embrace a team approach to providing care including management of spinal diseases in conjunction with the Department of Neurosurgery, management of children with developmental problems in conjunction with the Department of Pediatrics, management of children with chronic disabilities in conjunction with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and management of acute postoperative pain in conjunction with the Department of Anesthesiology. In addition, we work closely with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and child life specialists to provide a comprehensive treatment approach to our patients.
