Our team participates in cutting edge research such as articular cartilage regeneration, rotator cuff outcomes, complex revision surgical outcomes, and meniscal repair outcomes. We also provide specialized services in shoulder reconstruction. The Orthopaedic Surgery Department also sponsors a full-time Sports Medicine fellowship for an orthopaedic surgeon who has completed his or her residency. Education of the fellow, UCSF residents, and medical students creates an open environment for communication as well as technical expertise.
Our center offers a full range of on-site rehabilitative services with certified physical therapists. By combining state-of-the-art equipment with the latest rehabilitative techniques, we serve patients with diverse needs — from the weekend warrior to the professional athlete.
Our team utilizes a full array of non-operative and surgical treatment protocols. Non-operative treatment is directed by the physician in collaboration with a team of physical therapists, medical experts and fitness specialists in order to develop an ideal protocol for each specific patient.
Surgical protocols are also highly specialized. Our surgeons treat athletes of all abilities. They also treat a variety of different conditions. Many complex reconstructive procedures which require specialized care and cutting edge technical expertise are referred to the UCSF Sports Medicine Clinic.
