A native of Texas, Mr. Villanueva arrived at UCSF in 2002 to complete his certification requirements by doing both his orthotic and prosthetic residencies. Graduating from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School with a Bachelor of Science and a certificate in Prosthetics and Orthotics, Mr. Villanueva became part of the Staff in July 2004 and has served as the branch manager at San Francisco General Hospital from then until February of 2011 when he re-joined the team at Parnassus Heights.

He brings to the practice a well-rounded knowledge of specialties that include trauma orthotics and prosthetics as well as pediatric and neuro-orthopedic orthotic treatment plans. He has a special interest in Global Relief as it pertains to O&P and has been to Haiti to volunteer in the relief effort there. He has presented several papers at the professional annual meetings including the topics of dually involved patients with both orthotic and prosthetic needs, and treatments options for arthritic ankle pain.
