Clinical Research

Cartilage Repair and Regeneration

The UCSF Cartilage Repair and Regeneration Center conduct world-class research on musculoskeletal injury and repair. The laboratories include a Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory, headed by Ralph Marcucio, PhD located at San Francisco General Hospital, a Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory at the UCSF Parnassus campus headed by Dr. Richard Schneider. The team of research scientists includes orthopaedic surgeons, research physicians, and PhD scientists. The research laboratories are capable of performing a wide range of research, second to no other center in the United States. The lab is a training facility for post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, orthopaedic residents, and medical and undergraduate students.
